Captain Kickass is a new arena shooter by Nobody which mimics gameplay elements from Geometry Wars and several other similar arcade games. Firing is automatic, while the ship follows your cursor around hence cursor keys are never needed.

Rotate your firing direction left or right by using the mouse buttons. Much like Ablation, power-ups can be collected immediately when they appear or be left alone to wander the screen until absolutely needed. Delay power-up effects by holding down the middle mouse button.

Expect a full screen option, cooperative play, and a complete campaign mode to be included in future releases.

Name: Captain Kickass
Developer: Nobody

Type: Freeware
Size: 2MB

You forgot the most important gameplay feature: powerup saving by pressing the middle mouse button!

well, that feature isn't communicated very well in the game nor in the control rundown displayed at the beginning. might add a nudge for better communication of that mechanic onto your iteration list ;)

but, since nobody is listening, this'll probably fall on deaf ears...

oof!

anyhow, it's a dang shame that this gem'll probably go largely unnoticed.

this is far superior - far, far, far superior - to any other arena shooter that i've found to this date.

it's amazing that a game with such intuitive and well-devised controls and simple, fluid gameplay can be created by nobody at all. i guess good game design can just materialize out of thin air.

hey, everybody, listen! rock this shiz!

Um, right... I don't like the feel of the game at all whether it's just the lack of sound effects or the floaty feel of the controls. I just don't find it particularly fun.

I must agree, it is just not fun. Hard to hit enemies, hard to notice when you are hit, hard to control the fire direction, enemies and powerups look the same...

It has potential but there is a lot of work left in it
