Shikigami no Shiro II is another shooter from Japan that features gorgeous 3D backgrounds and the classic gameplay that everyone expects out of a shmup.

3D backgrounds? That's right. A lot of effort has gone into making this game and it shows.

Sorry to disappoint but the demo only features 2 levels. The prequel is available for download as well.

Name: Shikigami no Shiro II

Shikigami no Shiro 2 is also available on the PS2, and it's just $10. So if you like the demo and have a PS2, consider getting it. In the US, it's called "Castle Shikigami 2."

Also, the original Shikigami no Shiro is available on the PS2, but it's called "Mobile Light Force 2" because some idiot US publisher was just looking to put out a budget title with no respect for the source material. So the box art is three Charlie's Angels type girls with no connection to the game at all.

But as soon as you get past the hideous title screen, it's the real thing. I found this game for $3 *NEW* at EB some months back. It might be hard to find, but at that price, it might be worth a look.
